Boarding

Lake Emma Animal Hospital offers clean, comfortable overnight boarding and daycare for dogs and cats. We have small and large boarding kennels for canine guests and kitty condos in a separate, quieter area of the hospital for feline boarders. Most of those condos have a window view as well!

Boarding Information:

  • Family members are welcome to board together or separately at the request of the owner.
  • We encourage you to bring along pet beds, toys, blankets and treats for your pet’s stay so it will feel more like home—but do keep in mind that we use and launder these items, so we cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage.
  • We strive to maintain a clean and safe environment for our boarders, which means taking steps to prevent fleas and other parasites from entering our facility. All cats that board in our facility will receive a Capstar tablet (a quick-kill flea product) when they enter the boarding facility and then again when they exit. Our canine boarding guests are required to have both an entry and exit bath during their boarding stay. We offer a variety of shampoos that don’t diminish flea preventives and can accommodate those with skin issues. While there is a fee for the entry bath, your dog’s exit bath is complimentary – so they go home looking and smelling great!

Booking and Cancellations:

Please keep in mind that we do book up quickly during holidays and school vacations, so make sure to book your reservations well in advance for those times of the year. While there is no cancellation fee, we do ask that boarding cancellations are made no less than 24-hours before a reservation whenever possible to free up that space for other potential guests.

Although our kennel staff is here seven days a week to care for your pets, the hospital is closed Saturday after 2 and does not re-open until Monday morning at 7:30 am. We do not offer any boarding pick-ups or drop-offs during those times.

Boarding Requirements:

Feline

  • Current Vaccinations including Rabies and FVRCP(Distemper)
  • Negative intestinal parasite test (within the last year)

Canine

  • Current Vaccinations including: Rabies, DA2PP (Distemper/Adeno/Parvovirus), Canine Influenza H3N8 variant and Bordetella

If your pet is overdue for any vaccinations, they will need to be updated prior to boarding.

Medical care:

We are happy to provide exams, update vaccinations that are not overdue, and address any medical concerns during your pet’s stay to save you an additional trip. If your pet requires any regular medications, you can be assured that they will be administered by our medical treatment team. There is a medication administration fee of $4.50/per day. We will make every attempt to contact you during your pet’s stay if there are any concerns, but we reserve the right to administer necessary emergency treatment if we cannot contact you.
